Cross Country Teams Compete at Tri-State invitational

WARWICK, R.I. -- The Bridgewater State College cross country teams competed at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by the Community College of Rhode Island on Saturday.

The BSC women's team posted a second place finish with 47 points as they were edged out by WPI who won the women's 5k race with a score of 46 points.

The Bridgewater State men's team took home a third place finish at the 8k race as the Bears finished third with 91 points.  BSC trailed WPI (38 pts) and men's meet champion, SUNY Delphi (37 pts).

On the women's side, the Bears had three runners finish in the top ten led by sophomore Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) who placed fourth overall with a time of 21:15.  Junior Amanda Hauswirth (Methuen, MA) was next across the line for Bridgewater as she placed seventh (21:25).  Junior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) was the other BSC harrier in the top ten as she was the ninth runner (21:45) to complete the 5k course.

For the men's team, sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) continued his strong running as he finished second overall with a time of 27:19.  Freshman Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) was the only other men's runner in the top ten as he covered the 8k course in a time of 27:58.
