Cross Country Teams Compete at RWU Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Bridgewater State College cross country teams opened the 2009 season at the Roger Williams University Invitational on Saturday afternoon. 

The BSC men's team posted a second place finish led by sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) who was the second runner across the finish line with a time of 16:32.

Freshman Stephen Wahome (Lowell, MA) finished in fourth place for the Bears as he posted a time of 16:31.24.  The next BSC runner across the line was junior Ryan D'Arcangelo (Norfolk, MA) who was 13th (16:57.53).

On the women's side, junior Carissa Penney placed fifth with a time of 21:06.36 as she helped lead the Bears to a fourth place finish in the team standings.

The next two runners across the finish line for BSC were junior Jessica Eidinger (Sutton, MA) and sophomore Sarah Lagasse (Rehoboth, MA) who placed 16th and 18th respectively.   Eidinger completed the course in 21:49.40, while Lagasse posted a time of 21:52.22.

The BSC cross country teams will compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday.
