BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Alex Huynh has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Huynh placed fifth in the high jump (first among DIII student-athletes) with a leap of six feet, 1.5 inches (1.87m) at the season-opening Early Bird Invitational held this past weekend at The Track at New Balance. The Stoughton, Massachusetts product also finished 59th in the 200-meter dash (24.59) at the meet which featured competition from all three NCAA divisions as well as track clubs.

Huynh currently ranks second in the East Region in the high jump and 53rd in all of Division III.

The BSU men's indoor track & field team is off until Saturday, January 11th when the Bears compete at the Suffolk Invitational held at The Track at New Balance.
