Bridgewater State Track & Field Drafts Newest Team IMPACT Teammate

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University track & field teams welcomed their newest and youngest teammate, five-year-old Chris, at a special Signing Day event through Team IMPACT.

The Draft Day was held at the Adrian Tinsley Center on the Bridgewater State campus. Chris was joined by his family, particularly his brothers, Teddy and Donovan, as well as the track & field student-athletes, coaching staff, and members from the athletics community.

Proudly in front of his new teammates, Chris signed his National Letter of Intent to make his membership to the team official.

Chris' favorite color is black, followed closely behind by red, so it's very fitting that he signed with BSU. He loves spending time outside; camping, swimming and bike riding, but he's happy doing anything as long as his brothers are with him.

"Being paired with Chris has been a tremendous experience," said BSU head coach Christine Kloiber. "The track & field team has welcomed him, and his brothers, with open arms and are amazed each day with how much joy they bring with them."

Chris is the toughest kid around and has bravely battled a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) since he was diagnosed in 2019. His condition is followed by a world class team of practitioners at Boston Children's Hospital, where as a toddler he received a life changing brain surgery. Though he requires frequent hospital visits that no kid would love, he never fails to light up the room with his infectiously positive attitude and bright smile.

Most importantly, Chris is excited to officially join the team and he is already embracing his role as a Bears' track & field teammate. With all he battles through, Chris truly embodies what it means to have determination and is sure to be an inspiration to his teammates and coaches.

"Though we have only just begun our journey with Chris and Team IMPACT," Kloiber added, "it feels like he was a part of the team on the very first day we were introduced. The connections have been wonderful and inspiring."
