BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Stephen Spofford has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Spofford finished 14th in the 200-meter dash (22.37) and 17th in the 400-meter dash (49.54) this past weekend at the Kennesaw State Invitation. The Chelmsford, Massachusetts native recorded collegiate best times in both events.

Spofford currently ranks 50th in all of Division III in the 400 and fourth in the East Region. He is also seventh in the East Region in the 200.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the fourth of Spofford's career and first outdoor distinction.

The BSU men's outdoor track & field team with compete on Saturday at the Amherst Spring Fling hosted by Amherst College.
