BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

A native of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, McBirney finished 11th in the 800-meter run (fifth among DIII runners) with a PR time of 1:52.83 this past weekend at the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by MIT.

McBirney currently ranks 38th in all of Division III in the 800 and eighth in the East Region.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the sixth of McBirney's career. He also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades four times this past fall during the cross country season.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams travel to Westfield State University on Friday for the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Championships.
