BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University junior Kevin McBirney has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

McBirney garnered All-New England honors in the 800-meter run this past weekend at the Division III New England Indoor Track & Field Championships held at The Track at New Balance. The East Bridgewater, Massachusetts product placed sixth in the 800 with a career-best time of 1:53.78.

McBirney currently ranks tenth in the East Region in the 800.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the fourth of McBirney's career. He also earned MASCAC Runner of the Week accolades four times this past fall during the cross country season.

Qualifying members of the BSU men's track & field team with compete on Friday and Saturday at the NEICAAA Indoor Track & Field Championships also held at The Track at New Balance. Select Bears may compete at the Tufts Qualifying Meet on Saturday.
