NEW LONDON, Conn. – Three members of the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team placed during day one of the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
Senior Exondus Barnes (East Providence, R.I.) placed second in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 9.5 inches (6.64m).
Senior Jason Dann (Reading, Mass.) hit for a PR in the discus throw as he placed third in the event with a toss off 147 feet, five inches (44.94m).
Junior Kevin McBirney (East Bridgewater, Mass.) placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:00.50.
Sophomore Kyle Ackroyd (Charlestown, R.I.) and Justus Morgan (North Dighton, Mass.) also finished in the top ten for the Bears as they each recorded a PR in their respective event. Ackroyd finished ninth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:53.30 while Morgan checked in at ninth in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 8.75 inches (6.01m).
The two-day Silfen Invitational continues on Saturday.
