Men's Track & Field Competes at Amherst Spring Fling

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team competed on Sunday at the Amherst Spring Fling.

Chigozie Adigwe (Lowell, Mass.) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.82 seconds. Adigwe is currently ranked 27th in all of Division III in the 110 hurdles.

Corey Stalters (Norton, Mass.) placed second in the shot put with a mark of 49 feet, three inches (15.01m). Stalters also tossed the discus 138 feet, six inches (42.23m) to place fifth in the event.

Jason Dann (Reading, Mass.) checked in at fourth in the hammer throw with a heave of 169 feet, two inches (51.56m).

The foursome of Michael Young (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.), Mason Matias (New Bedford, Mass.) and Stephen Spofford (Chelmsford, Mass.) placed fifth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 42.30 seconds.

DeAndrade also finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.05) while Spofford was seventh in the 400-meter dash (50.24) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (22.22). Spofford recorded a PR in the 200.

Thomas Barinelli (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Exondus Barnes (East Providence, R.I.) tied for seventh in the high jump with identical marks of six feet, 3.5 inches (1.92m).

Jonathan Quigley (Haverhill, Mass.) finished seventh in the shot put (44'6.25"/13.57m) and eighth in the hammer throw (156'8"/47.75m). Quigley hit for a PR in the hammer and an outdoor PR in the shot.

Nathan Branco (Fairhaven, Mass.) placed seventh in the 400-meter hurldles with a time of 1:00.07. 

Ryker King (Wareham, Mass.) and Matthew Mooney (Douglas, Mass.) rounded out the Bears top ten performers. King finished ninth in the javelin (143'10"/43.85m) and tenth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.97), while Mooney placed eighth in the 100 (11.07) and tenth in the 200 (22.35). Mooney recorded personal best times on both events.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams compete on Friday and Saturday at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
