BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore Thomas Barinelli has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week.

Barinelli won the MASCAC individual title in both the high jump and the long jump this past weekend at the 2022 MASCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Swenson Field. The Tewksbury, Massachusetts native posted a career-best mark of six feet, 4.75 inches (1.95m) in the high jump and a season-best leap of 21 feet, 11.75 inches (6.70m) in the long jump as he helped lead the Bears to their fourth straight MASCAC Outdoor crown. Barinelli also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.16 seconds as he was the Bears' top scorer at the meet with 24 team points.

Barinelli currently ranks third in the East Region in the high jump and ninth in the long jump.

Qualifying members of the BSU outdoor track & field teams will compete at the Division III New England Championships held on Friday and Saturday at Williams College.
