BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Chigozie Adigwe has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Outdoor Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Adigwe placed third in both the 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles this past weekend at the Tufts Sunshine Classic. The Lowell, Massachusetts product posted a time of 15.54 seconds in the 110 hurdles and recorded a career-best time of 56.84 seconds in the 400 hurdles.

Adigwe currently ranks 23rd in all of Division III in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the East Region. He is also ninth in the East Region in the 400 hurdles.

The MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor marks the sixth of the 2021-2022 academic year for Adigwe who also earned the accolade three times during the indoor track & field season.

The BSU outdoor track & field teams host the MASCAC Championships on Saturday at Swenson Field.
