Lighten Finishes 19th in 100-Meter Dash at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Bridgewater State University senior Matthew Lighten finished 19th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash on Friday afternoon at the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

A native of Dalton, Massachusetts, Lighten posted a 100 dash time of 10.80 seconds in Friday's preliminaries.

On Thursday, Lighten finished 20th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.67 seconds. Lighten was making his debut at an NCAA Outdoor Championship meet.

Lighten wraps up his collegiate career as the Bears' outdoor record holder in both the 100 (10.70) and 200 (21.28). He set both mark earlier this season. Lighten also ran a leg on the Bears' record-setting 4x200-meter relay (1:28.66) during the 2019-2020 indoor campaign.
