BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the second straight week and third time this season, Bridgewater State University senior Joshua Higgins has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Higgins captured the meet title in the 400-meter run with a season-best time of 50.69 seconds this past weekend at the Plymouth State Panther Invitational. The Fitchburg, Massachusetts also placed second in the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.81 as he helped the Bears post a second place finish in the team standings at the meet.

Higgins currently ranks fourth in New England in the 400, ninth in the 600-meter run and tenth in the 800-meter run. He is also 25th in all of Division III in the 800.

The MASCAC Track Athlete of the Week honor marks the 13th of Higgins' career including ten indoor distinctions.

The BSU indoor track & field teams are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 15) when they compete at the MASCAC Championships held at Smith College.
