BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the sixth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman Exondus Barnes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Barnes earned All-New England honors and broke his own school record in the high jump at the Division III New England Championships held this past weekend at Springfield College. The East Providence, Rhode Island product placed seventh in the event with a leap of six feet, 5.5 inches (1.97m). He bested his previous mark of six feet, 4.75 inches (1.95m) accomplished earlier this season (twice) and equaled by teammate Andrew Chen.

Barnes currently ranks 12th in New England in both the high jump and the long jump.

Select members of the BSU men's indoor track & field team will compete on Saturday at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet.
