BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman Exondus Barnes has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Indoor Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week.

Barnes captured the meet title and tied his own school record in the high jump with a leap of six feet, 5.5 inches (1.97m) at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. The East Providence, Rhode Island native equaled his previous BSU indoor mark set the previous weekend at the Division III New England Championships.

Barnes wrapped up the 2019-2020 indoor track & field season ranked 12th in New England in both the high jump and the long jump.

Including today's pair of awards, Barnes earned MASCAC Rookie of the Week honors an impressive seven times during the indoor season and was twice named MASCAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
