Haynes Leads Men's Track & Field at Tufts Invitational

MEDFORD, Mass. – Junior Lamont Haynes (Boston, Mass.) captured the meet title in the 400-meter dash to lead the Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team at the non-scoring Tufts Invitational held on Saturday at the Gantcher Field House.

Haynes captured top honors in the 400 with a time of 50.90 seconds. He also placed third in the 200-meter dash with a season-best time of 22.89 seconds.

Junior Joshua Higgins (Fitchburg, Mass.) placed second 800-meter run (1:55.50), while sophomore Joshua Moore (Cape May, N.J.) finished second in the long jump (20'11.25"/6.38m).

Freshman Jacob DeAndrade (Taunton, Mass.) posted a career-best time of 7.17 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash to finish third in the event. Sophomore John Lara (South Boston, Mass.) added a third-place showing in the 400 (52.61).

Junior Olivier Ndikumana (Amherst, Mass.) placed fourth in the triple jump (42'2"/12.85m), while classmate Nick Johnson (Marstons Mills, Mass.) finished fifth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 52 feet, 11 inches (16.13m).

The indoor season continues for the BSU track & field teams next weekend as the Bears compete at the Wheaton Invitational.
