Men's Track & Field Competes at Tufts Cupid Challenge

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Tufts Cupid Challenge on Saturday.

Seniors Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) and Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) each won individual events to lead the BSU men's squad. Couture placed first in the 60-meter dash with a final time of 7.10 seconds, while Murtagh captured top honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a mark of 8.39 seconds in the finals.

The Bears' 4x400-meter relay team of Murtagh, classmate Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.), sophomore Michael Kotleski (Great Barrington, Mass.) and freshman Adrian Higgins (Milton, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 3:27.93 to place second in the event. The foursome qualified for the ECAC Division III Championships in the event.

Kotleski also added a fifth place performance in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 51.83.

Sophomore Brayden Hollowell (Nashua, N.H.) rounded out BSU's top placewinners as he finished fifth in the shot put with a season-best mark of 43 feet, 4.25 inches (13.21 meters).

Next Saturday, the Bears will compete at the MASCAC/Alliance Championships hosted by Plymouth State University.
