Wahome Leads Men's Outdoor Track & Field at NEICAAA Championships

EASTON, Mass. – Senior Stephen Wahome (Lowell, Mass.) captured the individual title in the 10,000-meter run to lead the Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track & field team at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships on Friday at Stonehill College.

Wahome won the event with a time of 31:56.89, while sophomore Ian Knapton (Mattapoisett, Mass.) was the next top place-winner for the Bears as he finished tenth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, seven inches (6.27 meters).

Freshman Andrew Couture (Dighton, Mass.) placed 15th in the 100-meter dash (11.17) and classmate Conor Murtagh (Walpole, Mass.) finished 17th in the 110-meter hurdles.  Freshman Daniel Coulter (Norton, Mass.) added a 22nd place showing in the 110-meter hurdles (15.84), while fellow rookie Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.) finished 25th in the 400-meter hurdles.

Heading into Saturday, the BSU men's outdoor track & field team is in sixth place in the team standings at the NEICAAA Championships with ten points.  Southern Connecticut State is in first place (48 pts.) followed by Northeastern University (46 pts.) and Stonehill College (19 pts.).
