Men's Track & Field Places 7th at ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Bridgewater State University men's indoor track and field team finished in seventh place at the ECAC Division III Championships held at the New Balance Armory.

The Bears posted a team score of 32 points. Cortland State won the team title with 59 points followed by RPI (48 pts.) and Oneonta State (46 pts.).

Brian Espinosa (Rehoboth, Mass.) paced the Bears during day two of the championships with a third place showing in the 200-meter dash and a fifth place finish in the long jump as he earned All-ECAC honors in both events.  Espinosa posted a distance of 22 feet, 8.75 inches (6.85 meters) in the long jump and recorded a time of 22.17 seconds in the 200.

Josh Goehring (Haverhill, Mass.) placed seventh and earned All-ECAC status in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:06.55.  Kevin Sawyer (Woburn, Mass.) placed tenth in the 500 with a time of 1:07.17.

Joseph Danner Hicks (Haverhill, Mass.) finished ninth in the 200-meter dash (22.50) and 22nd in the 60-meter dash (7.13).

Michael McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.), who on Friday captured the ECAC shot put title, will await word on his potential qualification to the NCAA Division III Championships which will take place next weekend at North Central College.  McPherson currently ranks 12th in Division III in the shot put.  The top 13 in each track and field event advance to the national meet.
