Men's Track Competes at the Northeastern Solomon Invitational

DEDHAM, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Bernard Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern University on Saturday.

Sophomore David Phipps (Attleboro, Mass.) paced the Bears at the non-scoring meet as he placed seventh in the 10,000-meter run and qualified for the New England Division III Championships in the event.  Phipps posted a time of 32:59.73.

Sophomore Felix Mensah (Lowell, Mass.) grabbed fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.30 seconds, while junior Jeff Sousa (North Dighton, Mass.) finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run (15:54.79).

Sophomore Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) was the Bears' top field athlete as he placed sixth in the shot put with a distance of 44 feet, four inches (13.51 meters)

Next Saturday, the BSU outdoor track and field teams will compete at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
