Men's Track Places Fourth at the Corsair Classic

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's outdoor track and field team placed fourth at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic on Saturday.

The Bears recorded a score of 91 points, finishing behind Worcester State University (160 points), host UMass Dartmouth (131 points) and Roger Williams University (114 points).

Sophomore Stephan Cawley (Dedham, Mass.) won the shot put with a distance of 45 feet, 7.75 inches (13.91 meters).

Freshman Matt Horan (Billerica, Mass.) placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.67 seconds.  Horan also qualified for three championship events; the Division III New Englands, the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships and the ECAC Division III Championships.

Freshman Joshua Danner-Hicks (Bedford, Mass.) grabbed third place in the long jump (20' 6.25") and fourth in the triple jump (41' 10.00").  Junior Andrew Corley (Milton, Mass.) added a third place showing in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.96 seconds.

Next Saturday, the Bears travel to Northeastern University for the Bernard Solomon Invitational.
