NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State College men's outdoor track and field team placed eighth in the New England Alliance Championships as the Bears posted a score of 28.5 points.
Seven different student-athletes earned All-New England Alliance honors for the Bears led by senior Kevin White (Swansea, MA) who placed third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.49 seconds) and eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (59.35 seconds).
Sophomore Bill Taft (Hanson, MA) and freshman Felix Mensah (Lowell, MA) also captured All-Alliance honors in multiple events. Taft finished fifth in the steeplechase (10:08.57) and eighth in the javelin (170 feet, 8 inches), while Mensah placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.32 seconds) and fifth in the triple jump (43 feet 11.75 inches).
Rounding out BSC's All-New England Alliance performers were senior Nick Ferrara (Swansea, MA) in the triple jump (5 feet, 11.25 inches); sophomore Jeff Sousa (North Dighton, MA) in the 10,000-meter run (34:51.63); sophomore Timothy Lord (Amesbury, MA) in the pole vault (10 feet, 9.5 inches); and freshman David Phipps (Attleboro, MA) in the 5000-meter run (16:18.47).
The University of Southern Maine Huskies won the meet with a score of 155.5 points, followed by Fitchburg State College (148.5 pts) and Westfield State College (130.0 pts).
