Men Finish Ninth at Skyhawk Invitational

EASTON, Mass --- Senior Nilton Gomes (Fall River, MA) and junior Chris Clark (Pittsfield, MA) took home third place finishes to help lead the Bridgewater State men’s outdoor track and field team to finish ninth at the Skyhawk Invitational this past Saturday.

BSC scored 28 total team points while Tufts was the top scorer with 171.50 points. The meet was held at Stonehill’s W.B. Mason Stadium in nearby Easton, MA.

Gomes finished third in the 400 meter run with a time of :50.91 and 11th in the 200 (23.66) while Clark qualified for the ECAC’s with a distance of 46-09 feet in the shot put.

Junior’s Avery Bouchard (Fall River, MA) and Brian Stewart (Scituate, MA) placed fifth (16:23.35) and sixth (16:24.35) in the 5000, respectively, while freshman Christopher Dagistino (Littleton, MA) crossed the line in 16th in the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.38).

Freshman Michael Casely (Abington, MA) took home 12th in the 200 (:23.69) while sprinter’s Sammie Ervan (Carver, MA) and Chris Nash (Weymouth, MA) ran to 20th (:11.89) and 23rd (:12.04) place finishes, respectively, in the 100 meter dash.

In the field, junior Jason Williams (Bradford, MA) led the way for BSC finishing fourth in the hammer throw (134-02), 17th in the shot put (33-01.25) and 18th in the discus (101-01). Sophomore Matt Marden (Wilmington, MA) placed 10th in the javelin (141-08) while Casely threw 11th in the Javelin (141-09) and jumped to a 17th finish in the long jump (18-07.25).

Sophomore Calvin Moy (Framingham, MA) finished 13th in the hammer (100-04) while senior Chris Kolentsas (Bridgewater, MA) placed 14th in the discus (106-03). Marden and freshman Patrick Lahey (Holden, MA) also threw 15th (33-11.25) and 16th (33-04.75), respectively, in the shot put to round out the action in the field for the Bears.

In relay action, BSC’s 4 x 400 relay team of Casey, Gomes, Dagistino, and junior Tim Barrow (Woburn, MA) finished in seventh with a time of 3:34.05.

Bridgewater State hits the track again this Saturday when they travel to Boston, MA to compete in the Bernard Solomon Invitational hosted by Northeastern. The first gun will fire at 10 A.M.
