BRISTOL, R.I. -- The Roger Williams University men's tennis team posted a 9-0 victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Thursday afternoon at the RWU Tennis Courts.

The Hawks improve to 10-1 on the season with their tenth straight win, while the Bears fall to 4-3.

Roger Williams swept the three doubles matches as well as each of the six singles flights.

Junior Jon Trevethan (Berlin, Conn.) and senior Dan Tocco (East Quogue, N.Y.) highlighted the victory for the Hawks. The duo paired up for an 8-2 triumph at first doubles, while Trevethan recorded a 6-1, 6-1 straight set win at the top singles flight and Tocco notched a 6-2, 6-3 straight set victory at second singles.

BSU senior Sean Nutter (Mattapoisett, Mass.) dropped a tough match at number four singles to RWU freshman Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.). After the first two sets were split, 3-6, 6-1, Baldyga came away with the win in a super tie-breaker, 10-7.

The third singles flight was also tightly-contested. After dropping the first set to BSU senior Kendan Ziegler (Hadley, N.Y.), freshman Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) led 5-2 in the second set before Ziegler retired due to injury.

Baldyga also teamed with junior Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) for an 8-1 decision at second doubles, while freshmen Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) and Sam Gibson (East Hampton, Conn.) paired up for an 8-5 triumph at number three.

Senior Tyler Cain (Montpelier, Vt.) rounded out the Hawks' point-producers with a 6-3, 6-0 straight set win at sixth singles.
