Men's Tennis Falls to UMass Dartmouth, 9-0

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Little East Conference (LEC) foe UMass Dartmouth on Tuesday afternoon at the UMD Tennis Courts.

The host Corsairs improve to 9-7 on the season and 3-2 in the Little East, while the visiting Bears fall to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

UMass swept the three doubles matches and each of the six singles flights to record the win.

UMD grad student Patrick Pacheco (Fall River, Mass.) earned a 6-4, 6-1 straight set win against BSU senior Justin Haley (South Yarmouth, Mass.) at the top singles flight. Pacheco also teamed with freshman Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) for an 8-0 victory at first doubles.

Freshman Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) edged Bridgewater State junior Michael Scollins (Marshfield, Mass.) in straight sets at second singles, 6-3, 7-5, while junior Anthony Joseph (Acushnet, Mass.) held of BSU senior Dan O'Malley (Duxbury, Mass.) at the third singles spot, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Viale and Joseph also paired up for an 8-3 win at second doubles.

The Bears entertain Johnson & Wales University on Thursday afternoon in their final home match of the season.
