NORTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Cody Farrell (Scituate, Mass.) was the lone winner for the Bridgewater State University men's tennis team on Tuesday afternoon as the Bears dropped an 8-1 decision to host Wheaton College.

The setback snapped a four-match winning streak for the Bears who slip to 4-1 on the season.  The host Lyons improve to 3-1.

Farrell battled to a tough three set victory out of the sixth singles flight, 6-2, 1-6, 10-8.

Jesse Gotlib (Dartmouth, Mass.) also went three sets at number four singles.  Gotlib posted a 6-3 decision in the opening set, but then lost the next two, 6-2, 10-8.

THe Bear will open Little East Conference play on Saturday when they host Western Connecticut State University.
