Men's Tennis Defeats Curry College, 6-3

BRIDGEWATER, MASS. -- The Bridgewater State College Bears knocked off visiting Curry College, 6-3, in men's tennis action this afternoon at the Dr. Henry Rosen Memorial Tennis Courts in Bridgewater.

Bridgewater won four of the six singles matches and two of three doubles flights as the Bears improved to 8-6 on the season.  Curry completes the 2009 season with a record of 6-12.

Senior Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) posted a 6-4, 6-3 straight win in the top flight singles match and teamed with freshman Duncan Yarworth (Wrentham, MA) for a 9-7 victory at first doubles.  Yarworth also battled to a tough three set second flight singles win.

The Bears also got singles victories from freshman Mike Zagame (Uxbridge, MA) at the fifth flight and sophomore David Campbell (Vineyard Haven, MA) at number six.  Campbell is 6-1 in singles play this season.  Senior Brendon Barbo (Yarmouthport, MA) and sophomore Nick Amrose (Arlington, MA) recorded an 8-2 triumph at third doubles.

Sophomore Charles Edlund (Hanover, MA) paced the Colonels with a 6-3, 6-4 straight set win at third flight singles.  Edlund also paired up with senior Justin Levine (Medfield, MA) for an 8-5 victory at second doubles.

The Bears travel to the University of Southern Maine on Friday (1:00 PM) for a Little East Conference match with the Huskies.
