BRIDGEWATER, MASS. -- The Bridgewater State College men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to UMass Dartmouth in Little East Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

After trailing 2-1 through doubles play, UMass rebounded to win five of the six singles flights to come away with the key conference victory.  The Corsairs improve to 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Little East, while Bridgewater falls to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Sophomore Mason Viau (Marion, MA) won the battle of the top singles players as he edged BSC senior Matt Charest (Somerset, MA) in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 10-5.

Viau also teamed with senior Christoph Forster (Reading, MA) to post and 8-2 win at second doubles. 

Charest and freshman Duncan Yarworth (Wrentham, MA) recorded a 9-8 victory at first flight doubles, while senior Brendon Barbo (Yarmouthport, MA) and freshman Jeff Belleville (Grafton, MA) teamed up for an 8-4 triumph at third doubles.

The Bears lone singles victory came off the racket of sophomore David Campbell (Vineyard, Haven, MA) who won in straight sets at the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-2.

Forster, freshmen Troy Pandolfi (Danbury, CT) and Karsten Rathlev (Winchester, MA) and junior Ken Sims (Chelmsford, MA) were also victorious in singles play for the Corsairs.

The Bears will host non-conference opponent Suffolk University on Thursday at 3:30 PM.  UMass is off until next Tuesday when they host Rhode Island College in a Little East Conference match beginning at 3:30.
