Men's Swimming & Diving Drops Opener to St. Michael's

COLCHESTER, Vt. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team opened the 2023-2024 dual meet schedule with a 127-82 setback to Division II Saint Michael's College on Saturday afternoon at the Ross Sports Center.

Freshman Aaron Fowler (Brookline, Mass.) placed first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 52.07 seconds while fellow rookie Jirat Saengthong (Watertown, Mass.) captured top honors in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.23 seconds.

Fowler and Saengthong also swam on the Bears' winning 200 freestyle relay squad along with seniors Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 1:29.91.

Pervier also finished second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.39 seconds.

The Bears' 200 medley relay team featuring Fowler, Saengthong, sophomore Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) and senior Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) placed second in the event with a time of 1:41.31.

Senior Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a second-place performance in the 1,000 freestyle as he touched the wall in a time of 11:16.24.

The BSU swimming & diving teams will host their Alumni Meet on Friday night at 6:30
