Men's Swimming & Diving Earns Four Event Titles at Little East Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team earned four event titles on Friday evening at the Little East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships held at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley.

The Bears' 200 medley relay squad featuring senior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), sophomore Thomas Roch (Chelmsford, Mass.), freshman Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) and junior Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) captured top honors with a time of 1:28.39.

Pervier also won the LEC crown in the 50 freestyle with a season-best time of 21.88 seconds. 

Junior Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) placed first in the 50 breaststroke with a meet record time of 27.21 seconds. Castellone eclipsed his own meet mark of 27.77 seconds set last season.

Castellone, Anastasiades, Pervier and junior Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) capped off the day with a victory in the 400 medley relay as the foursome set a meet record with a time of 3:35.45. They eclipsed the previous mark of 3:38.59 set by the Bears last season.

The three-day championship meet continues on Saturday morning with events getting underway at ten o'clock.
