Men's Swimming & Diving Battles Babson on Senior Day

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team dropped a 187-84 decision to visiting Babson College on Senior Day at the Moriarty Pool.

Junior Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.), freshman Brady Callahan (Taunton, Mass.) and graduate student Shawn Driscoll-Gomez (Medford, Mass.) each recorded first place finishes for the Bears (4-7).

Young captured top honors in the 1,650 freestyle with a career-best time of 18:16.69. while Callahan was the first to touch the wall in the 50 butterfly with a PR of 25.45 seconds.

Driscoll-Gomez won the one-meter diving competition with a career-best score of 131.50 points.

Bridgewater State also received second place performances from junior Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) in the 100 freestyle (51.59) and sophomore Chase Simao (Stonington, Conn.) in the 500 freestyle (5:04.28).

Castellone's time in the 100 free and Simao's time in the 500 free both marked career bests.

Prior to the start of the meet, the Bears honored Driscoll-Gomez, Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), Antonio Gonzalez, (Cranston, R.I.) Thomas Scalese (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Eric Silva (Dighton, Mass.).

The BSU swimming and diving teams wrap up regular season competition next Saturday when the Bears travel to Plymouth State University to take on the Panthers at noon.
