Men’s Swimming & Diving Splits Tri-Meet

NORTON, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team competed in a tri-meet hosted by Wheaton College on Saturday afternoon at Balfour Natatorium.

The Bears (3-3) posted a 198-47 victory over Gordon College and dropped a 184-90 decision to the host Lyons.

Junior Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.) captured top honors in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.03.

Sophomore Chase Simao (Stonington, Conn.) placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.77. Simao also finished third in the 200 butterfly (2:15.61).

Senior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) added a third-place showing in the 50 freestyle (22.97), while junior Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.) placed third in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.16) and junior Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) finished third in the 100 freestyle (52.14).

Pervier also swam a leg on the Bears' third-place 200 freestyle relay squad along with freshmen Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) and Brady Callahan (Taunton, Mass.), and senior Eric Silva (Dighton, Mass.). The foursome posted a time of 1:32.17.

Next Saturday afternoon, the Bears will travel to Roger Williams University for a one o'clock meet with the Hawks.
