Men’s Swimming & Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team swept a tri-meet with Regis College and Little East Conference (LEC) rival Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at the Moriarty Pool.

The Bears (2-1) posted a 124-79 decision against Eastern Connecticut and cruised to a 154-39 victory over Regis.

Sophomore Chase Simao (Stonington, Conn.) won a pair of events as he was the first to touch the wall in both the 200 individual medley (2:08.91) and 500 freestyle (5:11.62).

Freshman Brady Callahan (Taunton, Mass.), junior Cooper Castellone (South Windsor, Conn.), senior Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) and junior Joseph Pervier (Baldwinville, Mass.) opened the meet by tying for first place in the 200 medley relay (1:43.52).

Anastasiades added a first-place performance in the 200 butterfly (2:08.10).

The Bears also received individual wins by freshman Ryan McKenzie (Charlton, Mass.) in the 50 freestyle (23.12) and junior Connor Young (Chelmsford, Mass.) in the 200 backstroke (2:10.16).

Anastasiades, Pervier, McKenzie and junior Brennan Gravanda (Wilbraham, Mass.) capped off the meet with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay (1:31.72).

The Bears will be back in the pool next Saturday (Oct. 29) when they travel to Clark University for a dual meet with the Cougars.
