Santos, Willis Lead Men's Swimming & Diving at NEISDA Championships Day Three

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Senior Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) captured a pair of NEISDA titles and classmate Dylon Willis (Attleboro, Mass.) broke his own school record in the 100 breaststroke to lead the Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team during day three of the 2020 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on Saturday at the URI Tootell Aquatic Center.

Santos garnered top honors in the 50 butterfly with a time of 23.33 seconds. He also swam a leg on the Bears' 200-medley relay squad along with Willis, classmate Sean Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.) and freshman Chris Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.). The foursome placed first in the event with a time of 1:35.25.

Willis earned All-NEISDA honors with a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke as he posted a time of 56.69 seconds. Willis eclipsed his previous school mark of 56.71 seconds set last year.

Santos, Willis, junior Devin Bombardier (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman Ben Wilkinson (Reading, England) posted a third-place time of 1:29.95 in the 200 freestyle relay as the quartet earned All-NEISDA accolades in the event.

Flaherty, Anastasiades and seniors Timucin Marino (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Joseph Capella (New Bedford, Mass.) rounded out the Bears' All-NEISDA performers on Saturday. Flaherty placed third in the 100 backstroke (54.11), while Anastasiades finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.89) and Marino touched the wall fifth in the 1,000 freestyle (10:14.12). Capella posted a finals score of 273.55 points to place eighth in the one-meter diving competition.

The Bears are in fourth place out of 14 teams in the standings with 333 points heading into the fourth and final day of the championship meet.

The four-day championship event wraps up on Sunday morning with the preliminary round getting underway at ten.
