BSU Men’s Swimming & Diving Hosts “Last Gasp” Open Invitational

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- The Bridgewater State University men's swimming & diving team hosted the non-scoring BSU "Last Gasp" Open Invitational on Friday evening at the Moriarty Pool.

Junior Cameron Carnese (Framingham, Mass.) placed first and posted career-best times in both the 50 backstroke (33.27) and 100 backstroke (1:14.17) events. Carnese recorded a 50 split time of 33.15 seconds in the 100 backstroke to also record a career-best.

Sophomore Kyle Stringfellow (Foxboro, Mass.) grabbed top honors in the 100 breaststroke with a career-best time of 1:14.89, while junior Giulian Santos (Framingham, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Leung (Wakefield, Mass.) were the first to touch the wall in the 50 butterfly (24.77) and 100 individual medley (1:00.95), respectively. Leung was competing in the 100 IM for the first time in his collegiate career at BSU.

The Bears are off until Thursday, February 21st when qualifying members of the squad compete at the four-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships
