Nicholas Ribeiro Named MASCAC Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the third time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman midfielder Nicholas Ribeiro has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Ribeiro notched a goal and three assists for five points in a perfect 2-0 week for the Bears. The Bellingham, Massachusetts native dished out a pair of assists, including on the game-winning goal, in a 6-0 MASCAC shutout victory over Westfield State, and tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-0 shutout win over UMass Dartmouth. 

Through 19 games this season, Ribeiro has notched six goals and ten assists for 22 points. He presently leads the MASCAC in assists and ranks second in game-winning goals (4) and fourth in scoring. Ribeiro is also tied for fifth among the conference leaders in goals.

On a national level, Ribeiro is tied for 11th in all of Division III in assists and tied for 34th in game-winning goals.

Ribeiro also earned the MASCAC Rookie of the Week honor on October 2nd and October 23rd.

The BSU men's soccer team is currently 12-2-5 on the season. By virtue of the MASCAC Tournament championship, the Bears will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the seventh time in program history and first since 2018. The 64-team national tournament will get underway on Friday.
