BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore midfielder Filippo Mucci has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

Mucci tallied two goals and an assist for five points in two games for the Bears last week. The Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts native scored a goal and dished out an assist in a 3-0 win over MCLA as the Bears secured the MASCAC regular season title as well as the top seed in this week's week’s MASCAC Tournament. Mucci also found the back of the net in a 2-2 non-conference tie with Rhode Island College.

In 16 games this season, Mucci has notched six goals and two assists for 14 points. He is presently tied for fourth in the MASCAC in both goals and game-winning goals (2), and tied for sixth among the conference leaders in scoring.

In 28 games over his first two seasons with the Bears, Mucci has recorded eight goals and two assists for 18 points.

The MASCAC Offensive Player of the Week honor marks the first of Mucci's career. He is the third BSU men's soccer student-athlete to earn the accolade this season joining teammates David Nelson (Sr., East Bridgewater, Mass.) and Nicolas Matias (Jr., Framingham, Mass.).

The BSU men's soccer team is currently 10-2-5 on the season and 6-0-1 in the MASCAC. The Bears have a first-round bye in the MASCAC Tournament and will host a semifinal round game on Friday afternoon at 3:30.
