Healy Named to CSC Academic All-District® One Men's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University sophomore midfielder Ryan Healy has been selected to the 2023 Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Soccer Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Healy is the sixth members of the Bridgewater State men's soccer program to earn the Academic All-District® accolade since 2001 as he joins Dan Rickson (2022), Justin Silva (2022) and Kevin Roberts (2020) as well as Kane Moran (2018) and Brian Krug (2002). Rickson and Silva are also the only two student-athletes from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to garner the honor.

Healy is just one of three members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) t o earn the honor. He is joined by Tyler Cotting of MCLA and Matthew Alzamora of Worcester State University.

The 2023 Academic All-District® Men’s Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 90% of his team's contests for the 2023 season or started in 66% of the games.

A native of Cork, Ireland and a Plymouth North High School graduate, Healy is majoring in communication and media studies with an anthropology minor, and checks in with a 3.67 grade point average. In 37 games over his first two seasons with the Bears, Healy made 15 starts and has a goal and an assist for three points to his credit.

Healy helped the BSU men's soccer team post a 12-3-5 record in 2023 including a 6-0-1 conference mark as the Bears' captured both the MASCAC regular season and tournament titles and advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the seventh time in program history.
