Men's Soccer Drops 5-0 Decision to #14 Babson

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Babson College men's soccer team scored five goals in the first half as the #14 ranked Beavers posted a 5-0 shutout victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

The Beavers, who are ranked 14th in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Poll, improve to 12-3-2 on the season, while the visiting Bears fall to 5-8-2. Babson is now 18-8-3 all-time versus Bridgewater State and 18-0-3 in the last 21 meetings.

Babson graduate forward Ben Williams (Scarborough, Ontario) tallied a pair of goals within the first nine minutes of the contest. Senior defender Liam Hanlon (Boxborough, Mass.), senior defender Noah Labelle (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior forward Shamar Rainford (Randolph, Mass.) also potted first half goals for the Beavers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Walker White (Coral Gables, Fla.) and junior netminder Mack Lemkau (Bedford, N.Y.) combined on the shutout for the hosts. White played the first 45 minutes and did not face a shot as he recorded his team-leading 12th win of the season. Lemkau came on to start the second half and made one save.

Junior keeper Lukas Ekmanis (Baxter, Tenn.) turned aside ten shots in 45 minutes of action between the pipes for the Bears. Sophomore Aidan Lindmark (Norfolk, Mass.) played the second half and did not face a shot.

Babson finished with a 22-5 shot advantage for the game as well as a 14-0 edge in corner kicks. All five BSU shots came in the second half.

Both teams wrap up regular season play on Saturday afternoon. The Bears host Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) foe MCLA at noon, while the Beavers entertain New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival Springfield College at one.
