Men's Soccer Battles Worcester State to 0-0 Draw

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University and Worcester State University played to a 0-0 draw in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.

The visiting Bears see their record go to 2-6-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in the MASCAC, while the Lancers are now 6-2-4 overall and 3-0-1 in conference play.

Worcester finished with a 13-9 shot advantage for the game as well as a 9-0 edge in corner kick attempts. The Lancers were whistled for four yellow cards in the contest including a bench card.

Junior goalkeepers Dylan Ruberti (Westborough, MA) and Andy Ramirez (Waltham, MA) split time in the net for the hosts and combined to make four saves. BSU senior netminder William Russell (Sandwich, Mass.) turned aside four shots between the pipes for the Bears. Russell notched his third shutout of the season.

Sophomore midfielder Waseem Mahmoud (Northboro, Mass.) notched two shots on goal for Worcester State, while sophomore midfielder Carsten Boloz (Southborough, Mass.) paced Bridgewater State with two shots on frame.

The Bears host Salve Regina University on Monday afternoon at one o'clock for the completion of last week's suspended game. The Lancers are off until next Saturday at one when they travel to Salem State University for a key MASCAC tilt with the Vikings.
