Men's Soccer Blanked by Rams 3-0 in MASCAC Play

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Host Framingham State University posted a 3-0 shutout win over visiting Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) opponent Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon at Maple Street field.

The Rams improve to 4-3-1 on the season, 2-0 in the MASCAC, and the Bears fall to 1-5-1 in the 2022 campaign, 0-2 in the MASCAC. Framingham is now 14-30-4 versus Bridgewater since the teams first met in 1980.

Rams' graduate midfielder Bryce Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) opened the scoring in the 9th minute of the game. Kunphel Sinha (Darjeeling, India) sent a long pass to B. Nardizzi, who one-touched the ball past Bears goalie William Russell (Sandwich, Mass.).

Wasting no time, the Rams doubled the score less than a minute later when Jared Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass.) blasted a ball from beyond 25 yards out to Michael Champagne (Wellesley, Mass.), who headed the ball into the net for his first goal of the season.

A Bears foul in the box led to a second half marker for the Rams. Gabriel Padilla (Bellingham, Mass.) delivered on the play, easily finding back of the net to round out the Rams' scoring for the day.

Four Bears recorded multiple shots on the day, including a Robson Montrond (Brockton, Mass.) chance in the 66th minute that was only been stopped by a diving James Hartshorn (Chelmsford, Mass.) in goal.

Eight yellow cards were dealt throughout the 90-minute match, including a Rams team warning.

Senior goalkeeper Russell turned aside five shots in the setback for the Bears.

Rams Junior netminder Hartshorn collected his third win of the season, stopping all eight shots on goal from the Bears.

The Framingham State offense took the slight edge over Bridgewater State 16-15 in shots, while the visiting Bears took the 12-5 advantage in corner kicks.

In upcoming action, both teams will face non-conference opponents. Bridgewater State welcomes Roger Williams to Swenson pitch for a 3:30 PM matchup on Tuesday September 27th. Framingham State is set to host Springfield at Maple Street field for a 7:00 PM game on Tuesday September 27th.
