Men's Soccer Battles Wentworth to 0-0 Draw

BOSTON, Mass. – Wentworth and visiting Bridgewater State University played to a 0-0 draw in a non-conference men's soccer match on Saturday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

The Leopards are now 1-1-2 on the season, while the Bears see their record go to 0-2-1. Wentworth holds a 2-0-1 lead in the all-time series as the two teams met for the first time in 2019.

Bridgewater held a 13-9 shot advantage for the game as well as a 7-3 edge in corner kick attempts.

Sophomore forward Brett Ghelfi (Halifax, Mass.) led all players with four shots including two on frame. Ghelfi rang one off the crossbar in the fourth minute and was denied by Wentworth senior netminder Louis Quintero (Boston, Mass.) in the 87th minute. Quintero also stopped a header attempt by freshman defender Christopher Tocci (Milford, Mass.) off a corner kick in the 47th minute.

BSU senior goalkeeper William Russell (Sandwich, Mass.) made five saves to record his first shutout of the season. Quintero turned aside eight shots in the shutout effort for the Leopards.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday. The Bears entertain Eastern Nazarene College at 3:30, while the Leopards host Emerson College at seven.
