Kane Moran Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District One Men's Soccer Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University senior midfielder Kane Moran has been selected to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® One Division III Men's Soccer Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Of the 12 District One honorees, Moran is the only student-athlete from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) to be voted to the team. District One is comprised of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

A native of Perth, Australia, Moran currently sports an impressive 3.915 grade point average. He is majoring in business with a concentration in marketing and a minor in finance and has been named to the Dean's List in each of his first six semesters at Bridgewater State. Kane is also a three-time MASCAC Fall All-Academic Team selection.

In 17 games this season, all starts, Moran has produced four goals and three assists for 11 points. Three of his four tallies have been game-winners.

In four seasons with the Bears, Moran has played in 75 games and tallied 13 goals (eight game-winners) and nine assists for 35 points. He is a three-time All-MASCAC selection having garnered second team honors in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The BSU men's soccer team currently sports an 11-7-1 overall record. Seeded second in the MASCAC Tournament with a 5-2 conference mark, the Bears advanced to the tournament final on penalty kicks against #3 Salem State University and then disposed of top-seeded Framingham State University in the MASCAC title game, 5-3, to claim the programs fifth conference championship and earn a bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Bears will travel to Amherst College on Saturday as they will take on the 18th ranked Mammoths at 11:00 AM.
