Dante Kikuba Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- For the fifth time this season, Bridgewater State University freshman guard Dante Kikuba has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week.

Kikuba scored a game-high 31 points to go along with six rebounds, two assists and a game-best five steals in an 80-73 MASCAC setback to Westfield State University. The Framingham, Massachusetts native connected on 12 of 19 field goal attempts, including 4-for-8 from behind the arc, and went 3-for-4 at the free throw line.

Through 23 games this season, all starts, Kikuba is averaging 13.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals, while shooting 46.5% (120-258) from the floor, 39.5% (34-86) from behind the arc and 69.8% (30-43) at the free throw line. He currently leads the MASCAC in assists and ranks second in steals, third in three-point shooting, ninth in scoring and tenth in field goal percentage.

Kikuba was also selected the MASCAC Rookie of the Week on November 28th, December 12th, January 16th and January 30th. Along with teammate Emerson Halbleib (Gr., Carmel, Ind.), the duo have combined to earn the honor 11 times this season.

The BSU men's basketball team is presently 16-7 on the season and 6-4 in the MASCAC. The Bears entertain Fitchburg State University on Wednesday evening (Senior Night) at 5:30.
