Dante Kikuba Named MASCAC Men's Basketball Player & Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University freshman guard Dante Kikuba has been selected as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week.

A native of Framingham, Massachusetts, Kikuba averaged 26.5 points, 9.5 assists, 5.5 steals and 3.5 rebounds in a perfect 2-0 MASCAC week for the Bears while shooting 52.9% (18-34) from the floor, 55.6% (5-9) from three-point range and 80% (12-15) at the free throw line.

Kikuba came within two steals of a triple-double as he notched a career-high 31 points to go along with ten assists, eight steals and three rebounds in a 101-94 victory over MCLA. He also tallied 22 points, nine assists, three steals and three rebounds in a 99-68 win over Framingham State University.

Through 20 games this season, all starts, Kikuba is averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.2 steals, while shooting 45.7% (100-219) from the floor, 38.2% (26-68) from behind the arc and 73% (27-37) at the free throw line. He currently leads the MASCAC in assists and ranks second in steals, sixth in three-point shooting and tenth in scoring.

The MASCAC Player of the Week honor marks the first of the season for Kikuba while the Rookie of the Week accolade is his fourth. He was also selected the MASCAC Rookie of the Week on November 28th, December 12th and January 16th.

The BSU men's basketball team is presently 15-5 on the season and 5-2 in the MASCAC. The Bears travel to Salem State University on Wednesday evening for a five o'clock conference game with the Vikings.
