Emerson Halbleib Named to D3hoops.com All-Region One Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University graduate center Emerson Halbleib has been named as a second team selection on the 2022-2023 D3hoops.com Men's Basketball All-Region One Team.

Halbleib joins Michael Lofton (2014-15, 1st Team), Corey Connor (2010-11, 4th Team), Nicholas Motta (2009-10, 2nd Team) and Harry Grabert (2001-02, 2nd Team) as one of only five Bears to earn D3hoops.com all-region honors in the 22-year history of the award.

In 26 games this season, Halbleib averaged 14.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.6 blocks. He also shot 68.2% (152-223) from the floor, 37.5% (9-24) from behind the arc and 72.3% (68-94) at the free throw line. He set the Bears' single-season records for blocked shots and field goal percentage.

Halbleib led the Massacusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in field goal percentage and blocked shots. He also ranked second among the conference leaders in double-doubles (12), third in rebounding, fourth in free throw percentage, fifth in steals, and sixth in both scoring and offensive rebounds (3.3 rpg).

On the national stage, Halbleib is presently third in all of Division III in field goal percentage, tied for 15th in total blocks (68), 15th in blocks per game, 31st in total rebounds (267), tied for 32nd in double-doubles and 36th in rebounds per game.

An All-MASCAC First Team selection, Halbleib garnered MASCAC Player of the Week honors twice this season and MASCAC Rookie of the Week accolades an impressive eight times.

The BSU men's basketball team wrapped up the 2022-2023 campaign with an overall record of 18-8, a 14-win improvement from the previous season. The Bears went 8-4 in MASCAC regular season play to finish in a tie for second place in the conference standings.

This is the 22nd year D3hoops.com has named an All-Region team. Division III basketball is organized into ten regions. A region with 40 teams or more has three All-Region teams honored, while a region with fewer than 40 teams has a first and second team. This reorganization results in approximately 10 additional players being recognized when compared to previous full seasons.

Players from these lists are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams. The men's team will be released March 18, at the national championship game, and the women's team will be released at a predetermined time between the national semifinals on March 18 and the title game on April 1.
