13 Bears Named to NFHCA National Academic Squad

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Thirteen members of the Bridgewater State University field hockey team have been selected to the 2023 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad.

The NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the current academic year, and were nominated by their NFHCA member coach or institution.

Seniors Zoe Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.), Alexis Giesta (Hanson, Mass.), Carolyn Greendale (Natick, Mass.) and Charlotte McElroy (Carver, Mass.); juniors Noelle Cornetta (Hanson, Mass.) and Abby Massarelli (Stoughton, Mass.); sophomores Catherine Daoulas (Marshfield, Mass.), Irianny Solorin (Methuen, Mass.) and Emelia Westwater (Attleboro, Mass.); and freshmen Reese Burger (Rochester, Mass.), Madison Ellis (Attleboro, Mass.), Abigail Lambert (Harrisville, R.I.) and Abbie Zuber (Westport, Mass.) all garnered the honor for Bridgewater State.

All told, 1,783 student-athletes from 154 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2023 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. Connecticut College led all institutions with the most National Academic Squad selections, placing 26 student-athletes on the list.
