Five Bears Named to CSC Academic All-District® One At Large Team

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Five Bridgewater State University student-athletes have been selected to the 2022-2023 Academic All-District® One Division III Women's At Large Team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC).

Earning the honor from the field hockey team are senior forwards Hannah Rolfe and Bailey Turner. Reprsenting the women's lacrosse team are graduate midfielder Delaney Langton, graduate attack Katie Swart and senior midfielder Katie O'Brien.

The 2023 Academic All-District® At Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director. A student-athlete must have also played in at least 50% of her team's contests for the 2023 season.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on June 22nd.

A native of Easton, Massachusetts, Rolfe is majoring in both chemistry and secondary education. She checks in with an outstanding 3.91 grade point average through the fall 2022 semester and is slated to graduate in 2024.

In 25 games (20 starts) over two seasons with the BSU field hockey team, Rolfe tallied three goals and eight assists for 14 points.

Turner, who hails from Dedham, Massachusetts, currently sports an impressive 3.95 GPA throught the fall. She graduated summa cum laude earlier this month at Gillette Stadium with a degree in psychology and elementary education.

Turner notched three goals and three assists for nine points to go along with a defensive save in 31 games over two seasons with the Bears' field hockey program. She garnered All-Little East Third Team accolades in 2022. Turner also played one season at Bryn Mawr College where she scored six goals and added an assist as a freshman in 2019. 

Langton, who resides in Scituate, Rhode Island, boasts a 3.69 undergad GPA. She also walked at graduation earlier this month with a degree in sociology. Langton played this past spring as a graduate student as she is working towards a masters in mental health and school adjustment counseling.

A two-sport athlete, Langton also earned CSC Academic All-District® One honors this past fall as a member of the women's soccer team.

In 68 games over five seasons on the women's lacrosse turf, Langton registered 72 goals and 34 assists for 106 points as well as 109 ground balls, 128 draw controls and 42 caused turnovers. She earned All-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) First Team honors in 2023.

A native of Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Swart earned her undergraduate degree in communications studies in the spring of 2022 and posted a terrific 3.77 GPA. She began taking graduate level classes this spring (notched a perfect 4.00 GPA) and will enroll in the Masters of Elementary Education program.

In 41 games over three seasons in a BSU women's lacrosse uniform, Swart registered 20 goals, eight assists, 23 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.

O'Brien, who hails from Pembroke, Massachusetts, also graduated earlier this month with a degree in physical education and a teacher licensure. She checks in with a solid 3.77 GPA though the fall 2022 semester.

O'Brien appeared in 51 games over four seasons on the BSU women's lacrosse team. She scored 58 goals and dished out eight assists for 66 career points, and added 68 ground balls, 25 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers.
