Field Hockey Falls to Plymouth State, 4-0

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior forward Taylor Healy (Campton, N.H.) notched a hat trick to lead the Plymouth State University field hockey team to a 4-0 shutout victory over visiting Bridgewater State University on Saturday afternoon in a Little East Conference (LEC) matchup at Panther Field.

The Panthers improve to 10-4 on the season and 8-2 in the Little East, while the Bears fall to 2-13 overall and 1-9 in conference play. Plymouth holds a 28-9-1 advantage in the all-time series including a 15-2-1 mark at home.

Healy converted off a penalty corner just 90 seconds into the contest to give the Panthers the early 1-0 lead. That, however, would be the only scoring in the first half.

The Panthers potted three goals in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Junior midfielder Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) netter her 12th of the season just 2:26 into the third quarter to make it a 2-0 game. Healy then found the back of the net twice in a span of less than two minutes to extend the lead to 4-0. Healy converted on a penalty stroke to complete the hat trick as she increased her season scoring output to a team-leading 21 goals.

Plymouth finished with a 26-2 shot advantage for the game as well as a 13-1 edge in penalty corner attempts.

PSU junior netminder Kayla Antonucci (Windham, N.H.) was forced to make just one save as she recorder her fourth win and first shutout of the season.

Freshman goalkeepers Madelyne Guidaboni (Hanson, Mass.) and Ashley Hamelin (Whitinsville, Mass.) combined to make eight saves between the pipes for the Bears. Guidaboni played the first 45 minutes and turned aside four shots, while Hamelin made four saves in 15 minutes of action.

The Little East schedule continues for both teams on Tuesday evening. The Bears travel to Worcester State University to take on the Lancers at seven o'clock, while the Panthers entertain the University of Southern Maine Huskies at six.
