Olivia Sheehan Named an NFHCA Scholar of Distinction

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Bridgewater State University freshman defender Olivia Sheehan has been named a 2019 Zag Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholar of Distinction. Sheehan is one of 321 student-athletes from across the country to earn the honor.

The NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.

Sheehan, who hails from Hanson, Massachusetts, is currently sporting a perfect 4.0 GPA as she is majoring in elementary education.

On the field hockey pitch, Sheehan battled back from a preseason injury to appear in each of the Bears’ last eight games in 2019. She started the final seven contests and recorded one defensive save.

Earlier this month, Sheehan was one of ten Bears named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. She was also selected to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) Fall/Winter All-Academic Team back in February and the Little East Conference (LEC) Fall All-Academic Team this past December.
